ONAVIBE

FRIDAY AURA PRO

The Friday Aura Pro

You wanna drive? Lets talk.

The Friday AURA has a really nice level of control and feel, and don't get me wrong it still has a good level of pop. But if you are chasing true power, you want to pass people from the baseline, win points from serves alone, and still dominate in the kitchen - then you've got to look at the PRO.

The AURA PRO features a new GEN 4 design from FRIDAY, with a clear shift towards power and a more aggressive feel. It still carries that signature focus on balance, sweet spot & consistency, but everything here has been tuned to give you a faster, more responsive pickleball paddle that’s ready to attack. What you will notice straight away, is how reactive it feels. You'll feel an added level of pop and speed off the face, with a more direct feel - but it still holds a strong level of control, without feeling unpredictable. You can still slow the game down, and dial it in - but when you ask for it, the PRO will let everyone know whos in charge. Drives feel stronger, counters come off quicker and finishing points becomes much easier. But don't think that this paddle can't reset, dink or allow you to place controlled, smarter shots. The sweet spot is still very forgiving, and the refined construction gives the paddle a lot of feel. It's just also got the ability to go further, so when you slow the game down the PRO feels like butter, but when you want to have a crack the PRO's right there with you.

So lots of power, yet controllable... sounds a bit too good to be true. But FRIDAY have created something truly unique with this paddle, and it's got a completely different GEN 4 construction compared to the control focused AURA. The face still utilises quality raw T700 carbon, which has been tuned for faster, more direct feedback whilst still delivering loads of spin. But underneath is where things get interesting... It features a dual EPP foam core that's been engineered to feel lively & aggressive, whilst still being easy to control and have a large sweet spot. It sits right on the legal limit for the PB Core test, really showcasing its power. Around the perimeter, FRIDAY further tune this incredible power core with the ElasTECH internal weighting system, stabilising the paddle under high impact keeping the paddle composed at higher speeds & keeping that feel. The frame has also been changed, with a new blow molded carbon fiber design thats been double thermoformed for maximum durability. Foam inserts have also been added throughout the paddle that have been dialed differently, specifically focused on balancing the power with control.

The AURA PRO has been incredibly well received around the globe, and especially in the states. Friday sold out instantly, and its easy to see why. If you want a true GEN 4 performance paddle that has strong levels of power, but the control to back it up then the PRO is for you.

Body Shapes

The paddle body shapes can play a bigger role that what most people may think. Changing your shape can affect reach, sweet spot, power, control & overall feel - so picking the right one for you comes down to how you like to play.

Elongated Shape: Longer and Narrower.

This is the most common shape that's available, and usually it's the go to for players coming from tennis. The paddles are narrower and longer, giving you extra teach and a bit more leverage through your shots. This can help generate more power on drives, serves & overheads and is great if you prefer to play aggressively and cover the court more.

The trade off is a slightly smaller sweet spot when compared to wider shapes, which means it rewards cleaner contact. But for many players, the added reach and power is what makes it desirable.

Widebody Shape: Wider but Shorter

The complete opposite to the Elongated - and it's a shape that's getting more and more popular. It's shorter & wider and all about control and forgiveness. The increased width expands the sweet spot, making it more stable and consistent accross the face. It's ideal for those players who want to prioritise control, looking to make resets effortless and make the kitchen game their strength. Or it's great for just anyone who wants something that's easier to use.

Yes, you give up a bit more reach and leverage, meaning you will most likely produce a little less power - but in return you get a paddle thats much more predictable and forgiving. For those struggling to get really good purchase off their shots, and aren't hitting it always in the sweet spot... then this paddle can actually give you more power, as you don't need to hit the ball perfect all the time to get a good shot. Fantastic shape to learn with if you aren't worried about reach.

Hybrid Shape: The Perfect Inbetween

Last but not least, the Hybrid, and you guessed it... it's a balance of both. It really is in the middle of an Elongated and Widebody shape, giving a little less length and a little more width. You still get a decent reach, and good leverage to produce beautiful power on your shots, and your sweet spot is bigger and the paddle is a bit easier to control.

This is the newest shape that's probably the closest to knock Elongated off the popularity list. It's a great option if you want the true all-rounder, and its something that performs well everywhere without leaning too heavily in one direction.
