ONAVIBE
FRIDAY AURA
The Friday Aura
The AURA is a really well balanced pickleball paddle, with the new signature optimised GEN 4 technology from FRIDAY. It has a clear focus on feel, control, sweet spot & consistency and is a true all court paddle that elevates any skill level.
What really stands out with the AURA, is just how easy it is to play with. From the first few hits, you'll notice how controlled, stable and predictable it feels. Every shot will feel soft with a clean response off the face. It leans more towards control, but it's not dull. There's a nice amount of pop to help elevate your game and keep you competitive, and it's delivered to ensure all the power is super usable. Resets feel controlled, drops are clean and your kitchen game slows down and becomes effortless. The sweet spot is a big part of that, and on the AURA it's noticeably forgiving accross the face, even when not catching it perfectly. This paddle seems to always hold up and give you a consistent result and makes a massive difference in those longer rallies when you are under pressure.
FRIDAY make this all possible with a load of tech, packed into this new GEN 4 pickleball paddle. The face utilises raw T700 carbon, offering a really nice dwell and a beautiful level of spin. But all the fun stuff lies within the paddle. The Aura uses a new optimised EPP foam core, which gives the paddle a much more consistent feel. It helps absorb vibration, smooth out contact and makes the paddle far more forgiving. Around the perimeter, you've got the new elastech interior perimeter weighting which gives even more forgiveness to the sweet spot, and more foam around the base for more shock & vibration dampening. This is a true GEN 4 paddle thats at the forefront of technology, for a banging price.
Project AURA has just gone crazy around the globe, with FRIDAY selling out 3 times as soon as stock landed in the states. If you want to control the game, slow it down on your terms and feel completely comfortable then the AURA is the control paddle for you.
Body Shapes
The paddle body shapes can play a bigger role that what most people may think. Changing your shape can affect reach, sweet spot, power, control & overall feel - so picking the right one for you comes down to how you like to play.
Elongated Shape: Longer and Narrower.
This is the most common shape that's available, and usually it's the go to for players coming from tennis. The paddles are narrower and longer, giving you extra teach and a bit more leverage through your shots. This can help generate more power on drives, serves & overheads and is great if you prefer to play aggressively and cover the court more.
The trade off is a slightly smaller sweet spot when compared to wider shapes, which means it rewards cleaner contact. But for many players, the added reach and power is what makes it desirable.
Widebody Shape: Wider but Shorter
The complete opposite to the Elongated - and it's a shape that's getting more and more popular. It's shorter & wider and all about control and forgiveness. The increased width expands the sweet spot, making it more stable and consistent accross the face. It's ideal for those players who want to prioritise control, looking to make resets effortless and make the kitchen game their strength. Or it's great for just anyone who wants something that's easier to use.
Yes, you give up a bit more reach and leverage, meaning you will most likely produce a little less power - but in return you get a paddle thats much more predictable and forgiving. For those struggling to get really good purchase off their shots, and aren't hitting it always in the sweet spot... then this paddle can actually give you more power, as you don't need to hit the ball perfect all the time to get a good shot. Fantastic shape to learn with if you aren't worried about reach.
Hybrid Shape: The Perfect Inbetween
Last but not least, the Hybrid, and you guessed it... it's a balance of both. It really is in the middle of an Elongated and Widebody shape, giving a little less length and a little more width. You still get a decent reach, and good leverage to produce beautiful power on your shots, and your sweet spot is bigger and the paddle is a bit easier to control.
This is the newest shape that's probably the closest to knock Elongated off the popularity list. It's a great option if you want the true all-rounder, and its something that performs well everywhere without leaning too heavily in one direction.
